Wellington, Wellington, New Zealand Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa Full time

Te Papa stands proud as an iconic national building housing the treasures of the nation and is a vibrant destination for both national and international visitors.

Biculturalism is a founding philosophy and practice of Te Papa designed to explore the contribution of Māori language and culture to the life, culture and activities of the museum in small and large ways.

Te Papa fosters and nurtures cross-cultural capability, the ability of people of different cultural backgrounds to interact with one another in positive and uplifting ways.

The vision for Te Papa is to be a Tiriti based museum, where a collective commitment to Tiriti o Waitangi is fostered and Māori exercise tino rangatiratanga.

Te Papa has recently established an Office of the Co-Leaders with the responsibility of ensuring the museum flourishes under Te Rautaki o Te Papa (Te Papa's Strategy) and the high-quality strategic performance against the organisation's accountabilities.

The Office supports the Co-Leaders, Executive Leadership Team, and the Board in future-focused planning; supports the organisation to improve practice and outcomes through the development of strategy and policy; manages Te Papa's rhythms of planning and reporting; and provides many of the services needed to ensure we meet our obligations as an Autonomous Crown Entity.

The Advisor/Senior Advisor will be an advocate for great practice, working with key kaimahi to ensure Te Papa's policy suite is consistent and up-to-date, and acting as the glue between the needs of Te Papa and our outsourced legal providers.

The position holder will provide support to and learn from other members of the Office of the Co-Leaders, as part of a collaborative and transparent team culture, and provide support across the organisation to embed whakaaro māori and te ao māori perspective in our mahi, and lift policy expertise and strengthen compliance.
