The Carbon Neutral Government Programme (CNGP) is an all of government programme set up to accelerate the reduction of emissions within the public sector.

MPI has established a Carbon Neutral Programme (CNP) to ensure that we meet the requirements of the CNGP and do our bit to help Aotearoa New Zealand manage the impacts of climate change.

We have now reached a crucial stage of the programme as we work to successfully implement the CNP across the Ministry.

As Senior Adviser you will be a essential to this success, building trusted relationships to work influentially across MPI so that business is doing the right thing at the right time to meet our organisational targets.

Working as part of the Carbon Neutral Lead Team, you will provide high quality, specialist advice, analysis and insights to inform our Senior Leadership Team's planning on MPI's strategic priorities, organisational direction and design in relation to the programme.

Along with opportunities to lead key pieces of work, your contributions within the team will progress and deliver the work underway on carbon emissions measurement, analysis and reporting for the programme.

Mōu - About You

As someone with an interest in climate change mitigation, you will be a dynamic professional with:

  • A minimum of three years' experience working in a Senior Adviser role involving analysis, consultation and engagement, and interaction with and writing for decision makers in a large, complex organisation
  • prior experience working in government is particularly desirable.
  • Experience working in fastpaced, highrisk change projects/programmes/workstreams, achieving effective outcomes in situations where there are diverse interests.
  • Able to quickly establish yourself as a "trusted adviser" with a wide range of colleagues including senior managers able to influence without direct authority.
  • Experienced in stakeholder engagement as part of a change programme.
  • A working knowledge of Excel and/or Power BI.
