Mō te tūnga | About the role

This is where you can step up and make a significant impact in the lives of others by joining our Transformation team as we navigate, drive and support our future direction.

As a Chief Advisor you'll provide high level strategic advice, insights and performance thought leadership across the group.

You will work with and support the DCE, with providing advice and services to other DCEs, CE and Ministers, with a particular focus on medium to long-term strategy across the group, sector leadership within Oranga Tamariki and cross-agency roles.

This will extend to programmes and initiatives to deliver quality advice to the CE and Minister, improve the cost-effectiveness of Transformation functions, and drive continuous improvements through internal capability and quality assurance processes.

We are seeking a Chief Advisor who has proven business acumen and an ability to build strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

Your experience working within multiple organisations to find pragmatic solutions and influence organisational and people outcomes will be essential.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring.

Ideally, we are looking for someone who has experience working in central government and understands operational issues that can arise.

Additionally, someone who can develop strategic plans and deliver guidance on our frameworks and strategies.

You will have a proven business acumen and an ability to build strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

Your experience working within multiple organisations to find pragmatic solutions and influence organisational and people outcomes will be essential.

Key requirements of the role include but not limited to:

  • Highly developed strategic leadership experience in the public sector and/or in service/community organisations
  • A tenacious influencer with proven experience managing relationships.
  • Managerial courage/resilience and expertise
  • Sound knowledge of the Government's direction and priorities
  • Expertise in leading senior management teams in a complex and demanding environment
  • Understanding and appreciation of crosscultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
