Te āhuatunga a te tūranga/About the Role

The Chief Advisor will report to the General Manager, Health Safety and Security (GMHSS) and assist with assigned issues and areas of focus, undertaking varied activities on their behalf.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Researching and summarising relevant issues across the HSS rōpū (group).
  • Providing analysis of business unit challenges and opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain oversight of the HSS work programme, with input from other members of the team as appropriate.
  • Troubleshooting initiatives that impact the delivery of health, safety and security services across Tāhū o te Ture.


As Chief Advisor, you will lead significant projects or pieces of work, as directed by the GMHSS, that encompass all elements of delivery across HSS.

You will also prepare reports and updates for the Tāhū o te Ture Leadership Team, the judiciary, justice sector stakeholders and the Minister, coordinating responses on behalf of the GMHSS that require input across the business unit.


Your other duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Supporting the GMHSS in cross group governance activities at a Senior Leadership level.
  • Taking ownership of business unit integration and coordination, financial management, and business issues & risk management.

To be successful in the role you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in providing advise at a senior level to either a Health, Safety and/or Security tīma, or a large operational business is desirable.
  • The ability to work with a GM leading strategic and tactical projects at an all of group perspective
  • The ability to influence and drive delivery across groups
  • The ability to work across other business units, developing great working relationships

We are made up of four teams - Enablement, Health & Safety Operations, National Security Operations and Projects & Performance.

We lead the development of HSS strategy and operational policy and are responsible for the design, development and deployment of programmes and initiatives that support and strengthen the HSS culture within Tāhū o te Ture.

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The appointing salary for this role will be between $120,397 and $169,973 based on skills and experience.
