Mō te tūnga | About the role
Reporting to the Regional Manager

  • Māori partnerships and Communities (MPC), the Service Manager Quality (MPC) is responsible for partnerships, community, tamariki and whānaubased investment and the commissioning of services relevant to Oranga Tamariki. The MPC group engages and collaborates to build effective partnerships that achieve better outcomes for tamariki, rangatahi, their communities and whānau.

Through the provision of high-quality operational leadership, the Service Manager Quality - (MPC), will support the regional team in managing the delivery of high quality early and intensive intervention services, youth justice services, partnered care, and transition services for tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau.

The role of the Service Manager Quality is to engage with and support partners and communities at a regional and local level, to ensure a strategic and (equity informed) approach to outcomes for tamariki, rangatahi and whānau.

This will be driven through expertise in relationship management.

This is an exciting role within the Māori Partnerships and Communities team that requires a strong understanding of practice, critical thinking and influencing skills, and a passion for quality improvement and excellence.

Key requirements of the role include:

  • Good understanding of social work practice and its delivery within a clinical setting is essential
  • A Social Work Qualification with Full Registration and current Annual Practising Certificate with the New Zealand Social Worker Registration Board
  • Proven experience in providing quality assurance on practices and/or services
  • Motivated selfstarter who strives for excellence
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Coaching and managing performance of a regional team
  • Ability to influence and build effective working relationships
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and the ability to negotiate persuasively
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the principles of mana tamaiti, whakapapa and whanaungatanga and the ability to deliver to our Māori cultural framework
  • A willingness to travel within New Zealand to fulfil the job requirements when required
