The role:


You will play a critical role in ensuring that we have the right products at the right price to meet the needs of our customers.

You will also be responsible for negotiating prices, managing inventory levels and ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards.

This role is based at our Hamilton branch located at Te Rapa and reports to the Branch GM.

The job:

Your main job responsibility is to manage our purchasing process efficiently. The key responsibilities include

  • Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate terms and ensure timely deliveries of quality products.
  • Cost Negotiation: Implement effective costsaving strategies while maintaining the highest standards of product quality and service.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about market trends, pricing and product availability to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Order Processing: Process purchase orders, track deliveries and coordinate with various departments to ensure smooth procurement operations.
  • Quality Control: Collaborate with the Compliance team to ensure that all purchased products meet the required standards.
  • Record keeping: Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing and lead time
  • Product allocation: Assist Branch GM to make decisions around substituting products if orders can't be fulfilled or if there is not enough product available and needs to be allocated
  • Compliance: Ensure that all purchases comply with relevant regulations and standards.

The person:

You will have a qualification in procurement, supply chain or related industry. Proven experience in a procurement/purchasing role, especially in Food industry, is beneficial.

  • Great negotiation skills
  • Excellent reading, writing and communication skills
  • Positive attitude, confidence and flexibility
  • Aspiration and passion for high achievement
  • Strong intuitive thinking skills, ability to think outside the box
  • Good computer skills including proficiency MS Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of the food industry and supplier networks is a plus.
