ICT Systems Administrator - Washington (US)

  • An exciting opportunity to use your IT skills as part of the NewZealand Embassy team in the fascinating and fast-paced US capital.
  • A varied role that would suit a self-motivated IT professional.

Reporting to the Management Counsellor, this hands-on role will offer ICT and security support within the Embassy to help ensure its efficient and smooth running. The role will provide Post Security support at the Embassy, and IT support for MFAT and other NZ Inc agencies.

Key elements of the role include:

  • First and second level IT support to all Embassy staff
  • First level support for communications equipment at the Embassy
  • Participation in IT projects
  • Supporting Embassy security as the Deputy Post Security Officer
  • Providing safety and security briefings for incoming Embassy staff

The Post provides a comprehensive health insurance package and 20 days of paid vacation per year.

We'd like to hear from you if you have:

  • An industry related qualification or certification and at least two years' experience in an ICT environment
  • Ability to provide advanced support in the Microsoft suite of packages
  • An understanding of secure communications practices
  • The ability to work as part of a team to support others and also to lead independent efforts
  • Great organisation skills and the ability to manage competing demands
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive and proactive attitude and willingness to help

The successful candidate must have the right to live and work in the United States. The NewZealand Embassy is able to support an application for an A2 visa, which is subject to a 5 year limit. This is a locally employed position, with terms and conditions being set in accordance with US employment regulations. No off-shore allowance or transfer allowance applies.
