About the role


You will manage and oversee a portfolio of ICT projects, consisting of in some cases interdependent projects, throughout the project lifecycle to achieve a set of business objectives for Police.

The purpose of leadership in this role is to lead the activities for Our Business and enable our people to deliver them.


You will manage and oversee the delivery of outcomes required by the business through deployment of agreed resources that contribute to the business and ICT senior management's vision and manage associated financial and programme interdependencies.


The role will require experience in:

  • Legacy to modern platform migrations
  • Working with mission critical systems
  • Ensuring business readiness for major system change
  • Delivering technical and business solutions across multiple organisations
  • Managing through the Treasury Business Case process
  • Managing through a significant procurement phase


You to be able to work closely and collaboratively with multiple and sometimes challenging stakeholders, including internal, external government agencies and Treasury.


This is a dynamic and challenging position where you will be expected to troubleshoot and work to resolve issues, especially resource conflicts between programmes and projects.

You will be expected to work closely with the ICT Business Portfolio Manager (where applicable), project managers (where applicable), delivery teams and ICT resource managers as well as vendors.

You will need to be able to cultivate close working relationships with the Investment Portfolio Office (IPO), Finance, ICT Planning team, and the business Sub-portfolios that your projects will be governed by.


Other key attributes to ensure success in this role is the ability to work collaboratively, the ability to provide insights into how your area of responsibility and its underlying projects relate to other programmes.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Consistent attention to detail and ability to question
  • Ability to identify core reasons behind variances and to provide accurate insights in your own reporting and your project manager's reporting
  • Ability to identify and lead ongoing improvement opportunities where relevant in your area of responsibility, in support of business representatives and ICT senior management
