This role has key responsibilities for supporting the external financial reporting process and driving change projects that impact our core systems and processes within finance.


You will help us progress boldly by identifying practical improvements to increase our efficiency, using your ability to problem solve and ultimately deliver more for our customers.


Reporting to the External Reporting Manager you will work alongside the financial accounting team, claims and technology teams to lead process implementation and process change, including the management of claims service revenue.


You will also interact with people across business performance, customer payments, data practice and other parts of finance (including actuarial and procurement) and work closely with external vendors.


What will you be doing?

  • Finance process and system development triage current process issues and define enhancements to help us get the best out of our ERP system.
  • Support the implementation of upcoming regulatory, compliance and system changes that impact our core processes by leading the finance work stream including accounting standard changes, regulatory reporting changes etc.
  • Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders on timely delivery of projects and business processes.
  • Change project and process implementation develop process change and projectessential documents such as project charters, issues register, process manuals, process workflows and reporting to stakeholders on progress, key risks and delivered outcomes.
  • Support the preparation of the financial statements and external audit process, including preparation of notes to the financial statements.
  • Preparation of regular and ad hoc external reporting requirements for other regulatory bodies such as ICNZ, RBNZ and Statistics New Zealand.
  • Financial management of claims service revenue and associated claims

What you'll need

  • A strong level of general accounting knowledge, including IFRS and regulatory reporting.
  • Strong experience in business analysis, change management and building stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience with external reporting or financial statement preparation would be an advantage.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP and/or the insurance industry would be an advantage.
  • Ability to thrive in and foster a culture of accepting and being prepared for change.
