Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:
We have a short-term vacancy for a Business Advisor role. This is an opportunity to broaden your business advisory skills and join our small yet fabulous Business Management team.

The Business Advisor reports to the P&C Business Manager within the People and Culture branch.

In this role you will be responsible for a variety of tasks such as the preparation of central planning, performance reporting, risk management, corporate documents, responses, continuous improvement and Parliamentary processes.


You will also help the team and Business Manager meet our various public sector responsibilities such as responding to official and personal information requests and Estimates questions.

The work is fast paced and requires problem-solving, good networks in MBIE and lots of consultation

Skills and Experience Required
We are keen to hear from you if you have:

  • Significant business administration and coordination experience
  • A reputation for a positive, cando attitude and ability to quickly establish strong and trusted working relationships
  • Demonstrated experience in using discretion and integrity in handling sensitive information
  • Lots of handson experience in using a variety of Microsoft Office functions including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated agility and practicality in supporting multiple teams and responding to changes in priorities
  • An interest in developing your knowledge of machinery of government and public sector administration
  • Experience in Branch input into central planning, monthly performance reporting, risk management, business continuity planning, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Experience in coordination and preparation of Official Information Act requests and/or Privacy Act requests.
