At Manatū Hauora we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance. We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters.

Te Pou Hauora Māori | The Māori Health Directorate (MHD) is the principal policy advisor to government for Māori health matters.

The MHD leads the Ministry's kaitiaki/stewardship role to ensure the Ministry is meeting its obligations to Māori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori health equity in the context of the health system's performance for Māori.

Ko tōu ake mahi | What You'll Do

We are currently recruiting for a Principal Advisor Kaupapa Inquiries within our Te Pou Hauora Māori | The Māori Health Directorate.

Our Kaupapa Inquiries Team is responsible for leading the Ministry's response to Wai 2575: Inquiry into Health Services and Outcomes, supporting other Waitangi Tribunal kaupapa inquiries and providing secretariat support to the Hauora Māori Advisory Committee.

In this role you will be responsible for providing high quality advice and input to advance the suite of work programmes in the Kaupapa Inquiries Team and the Māori Health Directorate and building team culture through guiding and mentoring other team members.

Ko ngā pukenga ōu | What You'll Bring

Knowledge and significant experience in Waitangi Tribunal inquiries, Treaty settlement relationships, Treaty partnerships, or a relevant field
Ability to operate in Te Ao Māori contexts, including understanding of tikanga, kawa and te reo Māori
Understanding of Māori relationship dynamics, ability to build highly effective relationships with whānau, hapū, iwi and Māori communities and entities
Tertiary qualification in a health or relevant field or equivalent experience and significant stakeholder, iwi and Māori relations experience
