Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
The Human Services programme takes pride in offering the only undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Human Services in New Zealand (BA, Honours, 180 MA, MA thesis, and PhD in Human Services).
Internationally, Human Services is a growing academic discipline in the social sciences that involves analysing, critiquing, and debating the activities, structure, and organisation of human service contexts, organisations, and professions.
Undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Human Services prepare graduates for positions in local, national, and global human service organisations, including in the third sector (not-for-profit organisations or NGOs) and government departments.
The Human Services major offers five study pathways at undergraduate level, comprising health and wellbeing, work and organisations, youth worlds, local and global communities and crime and deviance.

You will be comfortable working with a range of educational approaches, including delivering teaching via digital technology, and have an open-minded viewpoint that respects biculturalism, diversity, and inclusion.
Preference will be given to applicants with a PhD in human services, public sociology, development studies, criminal justice, social psychology or a similar critical social science discipline.
