The Human Interface Technology (HIT) Lab NZ aims to support and empower people through the study, invention, development and dissemination of knowledge, technologies and processes that solve real-world problems and have positive global impact.

We are an international, multidisciplinary research centre, within the Faculty of Engineering, which designs new ways to support people in their everyday lives with advanced technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and applied immersive games.

Since 2002, our research has been exploring how people use these technologies to better understand cognition, perception and human behaviour.

The high-calibre research outputs we produce are helping to revolutionise how people interact with technology, and have established the HIT Lab NZ as a forerunner in the HIT field.

Find out more about us here.
