Āu Mahi | What You Will Do

Mōu | Who You Are

  • Proficiency with industry standard 3D software (Blender or Maya preferred) or 2D Animation pipelines
  • Experience with digital sculpting and industry standard software
  • Experience in lowpoly to highpoly workflows
  • Experience with lighting and rendering techniques
  • Experience with Compositing and/or Motion Graphics
  • Experience in the Adobe Creative Suite of products including Photoshop, Premiere and After Effects
  • Proficiency in 2D Illustration
  • Experience with Character and World design
  • Indepth knowledge of Animation, Game, VFX and Motion Graphics workflows
  • Knowledge of Unity and/or Unreal, especially in regard to art workflows
  • Experience with VFX, Virtual Production, and other aspects of filmmaking would be advantageous

Te Whare Wānanaga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury's new Bachelor of Digital Screen (Honours) program is a multi-disciplinary, multi-faculty educational program, spanning Arts and Engineering.

The successful applicant in Game Arts and Animation will be based in Te Kura Hanga Otinga | the School of Product Design under Te Kaupeka Pūhanga | the Faculty of Engineering, alongside the existing Applied Immersive Game Design/Game Development staff.

The appointable salary range will depend on the skills and experience of the successful applicant and covered by the academic and associated staff collective employment agreement:

  • The salary ranges for this position are: Lecturer (Teaching and Administration Only) $64,302
  • $113,749 p.a., Lecturer $86,197
  • $104,487 p.a., Senior Lecturer $109,977
  • $124,732 p.a._
