Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

Our Regulatory Performance and Insights function provides hindsight, insight, foresight and oversight to enable the effectiveness, efficiency, resilience and fairness of the whole of the land transport regulatory system.

The Principal Advisor, Regulatory Evaluation sits within our Regulatory Monitoring & Evaluation team and is our thought leader in government and regulatory performance and quality evaluation practices, and how to apply assurance and evaluation frameworks and practices to the best effect to obtain hindsight that will inform improvements in line with our regulatory stewardship role. This will include leading the development of our ways of working and solutions, taking responsibility for delivery of high-quality evaluations, and taking an active lead on all work in this area of expertise that is required to deliver to the Director of Land Transport Monitoring Programme and Annual Priorities.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • Your thought leadership, driving innovative ways of working
  • Experience of undertaking evaluative quality reviews of regulatory systems
  • Experience of undertaking evaluative performance reviews of teams and functions
  • Exceptional strategic advice skills, working alongside managers on actioning change
  • The ability to build strong relationships & networks within a complex organisation
  • A strong track record of delivery from your previous roles
The following would also be an advantage:
  • A relevant qualification
  • Knowledge of the land transport system and/or regulation
  • Knowledge and experience of applying Te Ao Māori principles
It is expected the holder of this role will be privy to classified information from time to time and understands the New Zealand governments classification system and how to maintain information in line with current policies and requirements.

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
