The Research & Analytics team, part of our System Leadership group, is about using data and information, research and analytics, customer-centric design, and support to ensure the customer drives everything we do.

They collect data and information to design great customer experiences, use research and analytics to help understand our customers and their needs and they connect with the wider Transport Agency to improve the journeys of our customers through education and behaviour change.

For more information check out our benefits here Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity As Principal Advisor or Senior Advisor Evaluation, you will provide high level advice, thought leadership, strategic direction and stakeholder management.

Working closely with the other Principal Advisors and Manager Research and Evaluation to develop, deliver our evaluation function, your focus will be on developing our evaluation framework and undertaking evaluation activities.

There will be some process evaluation work as well as ex-post evaluation, including causal inferencing. You will also provide leadership and expertise in the best practice methods in evaluation to others across Waka Kotahi.

A confident and trusted communicator, you will build effective relationships both internally and externally, enjoy sharing your skills and knowledge, and being a mentor to other staff.

Ko koe tēnei | About you To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Experience in transport, urban or network economics
  • Knowledge of data sources, skills and data management and ability to undertake quantitative analysis
  • Evaluation skills able to carry out expost analysis including causal inferencing
  • Degree in economics, engineering, or related field
  • Proven experience in leading, influencing and building credibility across a range of senior stakeholders
  • Sound knowledge of best practice in research and analysis
  • Exceptional written and oral presentation, communication, and advocacy skills
  • Problem solving skills, flexibility and resilience during times of change and ambiguity
