Manukau, Auckland, New Zealand Science New Zealand Full time

We are Toitū Envirocare (Enviro-Mark Solutions Limited), and chances are you've already interacted with our brands— Toitū carbonzero, Toitū carbonreduce, or Enviro-Mark.

You may have enjoyed carbonzero certified Yealands Wine or Steinlager beer, eaten Enviro-Mark Certified Abe's Bagels or used carbonzero certified ecotricity electricity, cleaned using Enviro-Mark Certified Eco Store products or at least know friends or family who have.

You may have wondered at times how organisations like Kathmandu, The Warehouse Group, Canterbury University and Westpac manage their carbon emissions.

The short answer is, it's our people.

We are proudly New Zealand's leading carbon reduction solution; however, our work isn't done yet Our aim is to encourage more organisations to start their journey with us to make New Zealand and the world more sustainable.

Intrigued?

Toitū has been working in the field of decarbonisation for 21 years, but growth has been slow until recently.

Over the last few years, we have grown substantially, doubling in size in the last two years, and generating positive cashflow.

That growth is expected to accelerate, and we have a funded transformation programme underway to enable us to deliver the impact the planet needs.

The Toitū strategic transformation will be a three-year programme, requiring strong visionary leadership. The transformation programme encompasses process simplification and automation, partnering, and digital enablement.

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Operating Officer role is a new and substantial role within Toitū.

It will be responsible for leading the organisation on a three year, $18.5m Transformation programme and at the same time ensuring all the operational functions of the business are efficiently and effectively supporting other key functions of the business.

As Toitū enters its next phase of growth and digital transformation, the COO will be integral in working with the CEO, Board and Executive team to transform Toitū into a modern, agile, digital business.

The overall responsibilities of the role are:

  • Lead Toitū's Audit and Certification functions with a focus on delivering efficient and quality clientbased audit outcomes in line with relevant standards ($6m revenue).
  • Lead Toitū's threeyear, $18.5 million Transformation Programme.
  • In conjunction with the CEO, lead the development of Toitū's business strategy, including monitoring and reporting progress to the Board and Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research ("MWLR" or "parent").
  • Develop and deliver the Operations strategy and associated action plans to align and deliver on Toitū's business strategy.
  • To build enterprise capability in ways that will help Toitū adapt to changing market conditions and technologies and to achieve excellence in its practices and delivery.
  • Ensure Toitū's daytoday operations are cohesive, highly integrated, and efficient, while meeting customer and regulatory standards.
  • Responsible for Strategy, Business Performance, Practice Management, Office of the CEO, Risk and Assurance, Legal and Compliance, Audit, and Certification functions.

About You

Proven experience as a COO, or relevant role working at executive level, with experience in producing and developing strategic and operational business plans, financial management, resource allocation and performance monitoring systems.

You are a strategic thinker with experience leading change and have a digital-first mindset along with a track record of delivering results.

You can build confidence in service delivery by providing clear and transparent reporting and are confident in presenting these to the Board.

Why Toitū Envirocare?
Toitū Envirocare is New Zealand's leading provider of environmental certification.

We help organisations in New Zealand and internationally to accurately measure, manage, and minimise their carbon footprints and environmental impacts.
