Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
The new national Procurement & Supply Chain (P&SC) senior leadership team is being established within Te Whatu Ora.

This leadership group will support the development and implementation of Te Whatu Ora's P&SC operating model which is Nationally-led, and Delivered Nationally, Regionally and Locally.

Join our Procurement & Supply Chain team in the key role of National Manager, Inventory Optimisation.

This is an opportunity to establish and lead the national inventory optimisation function for Te Whatu Ora, Aotearoa's biggest employer, at a key time of transformation.

Setting up this national planning function will involve;

  • Develop the demand and supply planning function
  • Supporting the establishment of the Integrated Business Planning function
  • Codesigning an endtoend inventory approach with our distribution teams
  • Own the inventory management framework and support implemention across the national supply chain
  • Driving the development of effective inventory strategies that will contribute to meeting objectives and targets
  • Developing policies, processes and documents for the function
  • Contribute to the national network review


Post set-up, the day-to-day will involve managing all national and regional inventories, ensuring appropriate stock rotation and obsolescence management, monitoring and reporting on compliance and leading the team and function to achieve consistently.

You are an experienced Supply Chain Manager, who has successfully led planning and scheduling functions in large organisations.

Specifically, you have proven experience in planning complex supply chains and are a trusted pair of hands who brings a toolkit of processes and methodologies with you.

A strong and confident leader, you have the ability to bring people on a transformation journey.

As a communicator, you can relate well to technical and non-technical audiences and influence across an organisation with your critical insights.

You've lead teams in change environments before, and have experience effecting process, technology and people change to achieve transformative outcomes.

You will have:

  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a willingness to learn and grow
  • A relevant graduate and postgraduate qualification or professional qualifications
  • Advanced competency in supply chain inventory & planning principles
  • The ability to take full ownership of your work, and your team
  • Proven leadership and thought leadership experience
