About the Team:

  • Providing policy analysis and advice
  • Advising on legislation and the design of regulatory instruments including maritime and marine protection rules
  • Leading and managing the development and delivery of projects in annual regulatory design programme
  • Working with the International Engagement and Coordination team to ensure that international developments are well integrated into the policy programme

What you'll do:


The Senior Advisor Policy will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects including the development of regulatory interventions and advising on legislation and the design of regulatory instruments including maritime and marine protection rules.

You'll establish and maintain relationships across Maritime NZ and with industry to ensure our work is well informed and connected.

We are looking for a solutions focused, big picture policy thinker, with ability to look at options outside the obvious.

You will be an experienced who enjoys making connections across agencies and is ready for a role where you can see the results of your work.

  • Proven experience and knowledge of Regulatory and/or Policy Design
  • A strategic thinker
  • A knowledge of legislative reform processes would be an advantage
  • Sound experience in an advisory or analyst role within central government
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Experience contributing and taking the lead in policy projects and programmes of work
  • Successful track record as a proactive and innovative thinker who is willing to involve others to look at problems from different perspectives and develop fresh solutions
  • Aptitude for fostering positive working relationships with people across all levels of an organisation
  • Collaborative working style and commitment to a positive team culture
