The Ministry for the Environment has a Project Management Office which operates a hub and spoke model.

The hub provides project support and independent advice across the business with a strong focus on building project management capability.

The spokes focus on the delivery of projects and programmes of work in the business. As such, reporting lines may be adjusted to reflect where performance and development conversations are most practicable.
Organisational Performance provides the support and corporate services to the wider organisation.

Within the Organisational Performance Business Group, the Programme Manager will play a leading role in identifying, establishing and managing successful programmes of work.

They will lead high priority programmes and will be expected to partner with and mentor project leads to deliver defined outputs and benefits within scope, budget and timeframes, to customer and stakeholder satisfaction, in accordance with best practice programme management frameworks.

The Programme Manager will support the Director in the budget management of the Organisational Performance Business unit.

  • Commitment to developing your cultural capability and capacity in te ao Māori
  • A minimum of years demonstrable experience managing successful projects, during which time there is experience with managing large programmes
  • Programme/Project Management qualification MSP, PMP or CAPM, PRINCE2 Certified Practitioner or Foundation Accredited preferred.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels across government
  • Highly developed negotiating, influencing, communication skills
  • Ability to cope with pressure and meet deadlines
  • Prepared to put in the time and effort required to achieve final outcomes
  • Confidence and capability in facilitating group sessions
  • Experience in planning, process improvement, measurement and reporting
  • Understanding of the machinery of government, the Crown's obligation to Māori, and the role and work of the Ministry
Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is $132,139 to $161,502 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
