We are looking for a student with an interest in environmental sciences to assist in updating and reviewing Waikato Regional Council's Land Use Information Register.

  • We are looking for a summer student who enjoys desktop investigations and research, combining historical and modern information to enable good decision making.
  • We need someone competent in GIS and who has good spatial location skills.
  • We are looking for someone who likes being accurate and helpful to members of the public and who enjoys being part of a team.
  • We need someone with full a driver's license due to a part of the role including field mapping.

About the role:

Tasks will include:

Working alongside the Scientist
Contaminated Land to audit and update the Land Use Information Register:

Research and validation of suspected HAIL sites

Addition of known HAIL sites to the Land Use Information Register
:

Notifying landowners of their inclusion on the HAIL Register
:

Scanning historic documents and linking these to the HAIL Register
:

-
HAIL mapping the Waikato Region using mobile technology.
**This role is for four months, starting in early November 2023 and ending 1 March 2024. For students at the end of their study or with flexible return to study options, extensions could be considered.
