  • SP74977This is a senior level appointment for a wellestablished consultancy, currently developing a new service offering for clients. The aim of the position is to ensure construction contracts are legally watertight to create a high level of confidence for clients in the delivery of their projects.
Strong experience and knowledge of construction contracts, terminology, drafting contracts and bid writing is expected.

A law/legal qualification and experience is essential as you will be responsible for writing, reviewing, editing and amending construction contracts.

This service will provide support throughout the entire project lifecycle, working closely with clients, consultants, contractors and staff. The company works on projects ranging in value from $100m to $1b.

Responsibilities:

Contract Preparation:
pre-contract negotiation of terms, draft contracts and addendums, bond wording review, bond negotiations between contracting parties and banks.

Contract Administration:
engineer to contract, principal representative, principal agent, claims management.

Contractual and Project Lifecycle Support:
project strategy development and advice, externally drafted and signed contract analysis, strategic project reviews and health checks, contract default and terminations

Dispute Avoidance:
claims strategy development and management: contractual liability and causation analysis, disagreement advice, conflict avoidance

Dispute Resolution:
claims strategy development and management, independent expert, arbitration, adjudication.

Client Relationships:

initial liaison with the client/stakeholders to set the project up for success, continual contact with the client to ensure deliverables are being met, develop and maintain strong relationships with clients/stakeholders.

Salary is dependent on experience, but will be in the region of $140-180k.
