**Ko wai mātou | Our Organisation**:
Middlemore is the largest hospital operated by Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand. We offer secondary-level (hospital and specialist) care and a selected range of community and domiciliary services for the population of Counties Manukau - the area that stretches from Otahuhu to Port Waikato.

We also provide niche specialist tertiary services for regional and national consumers in orthopaedic and plastic surgery, burns, spinal injury rehabilitation, renal dialysis, and neonatal intensive care. All Counties Manukau facilities are smoke-free.

Middlemore Hospital is the main hub for acute care and referral services within the district. It is an accredited, teaching hospital of Auckland University and caters for most medical and surgical specialties with a catchment area of around 600,000 people.

**The Department of General Medicine**:
The General Medicine experience at Middlemore is wide and varied, providing an interesting and challenging clinical environment. It is the largest of the 15 Departments in the Division of Medicine and has close ties with all the medical specialities. All subspecialties contribute to undergraduate and post-graduate teaching programmes.

**The Department of Rheumatology**:
Rheumatology at Counties Manukau is a well-established subspecialty, providing inpatient, outpatient and consulting services for our population. The South Auckland community is diverse, with a high Māori, Pacific and Asian population who present with a variety of exciting and challenging rheumatic disorders. We manage patients presenting with inflammatory and non-inflammatory arthritis as well as soft tissue disorders. The department has modern facilities with musculoskeletal ultrasound machines available in clinic rooms and easy access to radiology services. Our multidisciplinary service is supported by experienced Allied Health staff, Nurse Specialists, Health Psychologists and Podiatrists. We provide teaching and training for medical students, advanced trainees and there is opportunity to do research with the co-located Aotearoa Clinical Trials research centre. We are looking for another Rheumatologist to join our exciting team.

**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**:
We are currently looking for experienced Consultants / Physicians / Senior Medical Officers (SMOs) with a passion for General Medicine and Rheumatology at Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau, based at Middlemore Hospital, in South Auckland, New Zealand.

As a SMO, you will have opportunity to work with ward-based teams, outpatient ambulatory care, as well as the Acute Medicine Team.

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**:

- You should be either registered or be eligible for vocational registration within the scope of General Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
- Previous experience as Consultant Physician is desirable.
