We have a great leadership opportunity in Te Puni Kōkiri (Ministry of Māori Development) for an experienced Payroll Team Leader to join our People and Capability Team in the Organisational Support Puni (Te Puni Tautoko Whakahaere).

Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The opportunity

The principal purpose of the Team Leader, Payroll role is to lead and manage Te Puni Kōkiri's payroll function through efficient and effective technical and functional leadership.

The Team Leader will lead, develop and support the ongoing development of the Payroll Team members to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of payroll services.

The role also forms part of the People and Capability Leadership team and will contribute to the direction, the strategy and the workplan to ensure that the directorate achieves its desired outcome of "Thriving kaimahi, thriving whānau".

The appointment range for this role is $90k - 115k per annum.

Ko wai koe | About you

If you possess the following, then we want to hear from you:

  • 5+ years' proven payroll leadership experience (Govt experience highly desirable).
  • Working knowledge of Public Service reporting requirements.
  • Advanced level user of Excel.
  • Applicable knowledge Employment Law and their impact on the payroll.
  • High level of communication skills.
  • Analytical skills that enable accurate trouble shooting.
  • Thorough working knowledge and understanding of PAYE, Kiwi Saver and all IRD employee deductions and Income Tax preparation.
  • Great communication skills.

Highly desirable:

  • Have experience with MYOB/PayGlobal.
