About the organisation

Our client is a kaupapa Māori organisation that prides itself on working to a family-centred, tikanga guided, wellbeing approach. With a team of 100+ professionals, they are committed to delivering mental health, youth, housing and other social services in Hamilton city and beyond. The overriding mission of everyone who works at this organisation is a desire to improve holistic wellbeing and development to all.

The Role
We are looking for a Human Resources Manager to join their team and provide advisory, day to day support for all employment relations, recruitment and onboarding needs. This is a leadership position with 4 direct reports, leading HR specialist and the back office admin team.

They offer an incredibly collaborative team environment and believe in giving complete autonomy in your role to deliver the best outcomes for their people. They pride themselves on having an open door policy and resolving issues right at the beginning before the escalate.

A day in the life as HR Manager

  • Design and engage in all employee experience enhancement initiatives
  • Drive outcomes in talent acquisition, employee engagement, compliance, and organizational culture enhancement
  • Lead and manage all facets of talent acquisition and onboarding requirements
  • Deliver weekly reporting and analytics/administration to key stakeholders
  • Provide guidance and support to people managers for all employee relations needs
  • Lead local projects related to people and culture initiatives

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources
  • 6+ years of HR experience in an HR generalist or a Business Partner role
  • Excellent communication – with the ability to work with a range of people
  • Positive attitude, resilient and happy to roll up sleeves to get the job done
  • Approachable and enjoy working in a team environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills – able to look at alternative paths when the answer is not immediately available
  • Excellent understanding of NZ employment law
