About the role
As a Design Planner, you will join our Works Planning Team to support the reliable, efficient and safe operation of the WEL Networks distribution network by providing specialised technical advice, and structured planning for the construction and maintenance of our network assets including substations, communication and protection assets and distribution assets.
This role is central to the smooth and efficient delivery of design projects, through providing detailed plans that support the design and implementation process while collaborating with the Designers and Project Managers to assure safe constructability.
Responsibilities:
- Provide structured planning and estimation for WEL Networks core asset programme of work
- Conduct constructability reviews of designs
- Work with Asset Management Network Management System and SysCon experts to present switching and isolation plans for approval and activation
- Provide technical guidance within WEL Services
- Work with colleagues and managers in lifting and promoting good technical practices
- Identify, address, or escalate issues where bottlenecks are occurring in workflows, and contribute as a team player in all allocated projects
- Contribute to the continuous improvement culture through targeted process improvements
Skills and Experience:
- A recognised, relevant trade qualification
- Appropriate current registration is desirable
- 5 years post qualifying relevant technical experience
- 5 years' experience in a distribution network environment
- Experience in the distribution network environment knowledge of the WEL distribution network would be an advantage
- Experience in the use of SAP or similar software is desirable
This role might be suited to someone looking to step off the tools and into more of an office based role, and could be tailored to suit your area of expertise (Underground, Overhead or Substations).
