Te tūnga | The role

Come and lead the publishing function at Stats NZ This is a crucial role, managing a team of skilled publishing professionals, working closely with managers and teams across Stats NZ to connect and coordinate the release of material on our website and our data tools.

You will be helping us to publish statistical information that is easy to find, understand, and use.
Increasingly we are publishing information in te reo Māori as well as English. We also work with Māori partners such as Te Whata to publish data. Any experience you have with te reo Māori and te Ao Māori will be highly valued.
This position was previously advertised in March 2023.
Nōu te rourou | What you bring

  • Excellent people leadership skills. Certificate or equivalent experience in people management would be desirable.
  • Strong communication and relationshipbuilding skills within and outside the team.
  • Experience with te reo Māori and te Ao Māori will be highly valued.
  • Proven experience managing relationships in a deadlinedriven service delivery environment.
  • Ability to lead and advocate for your team's work with different areas across the organisation
  • Be recognised as a clear writer and communicator, ideally with some familiarity with and understanding of plain English and accessibility standards
  • An understanding of the development and delivery of statistical products and services would be an advantage.
  • Ideally, you will be able to help Stats NZ bring more Māori and Pacific people into our leadership roles, to help us represent the communities we serve.
  • Transferable leadership skills and experience gained from outside of work for example, cultural, community, sports, volunteering, or a comparable role in a different sector or industry.
