Āu Mahi | What You Will Do

We have a unique opportunity to lead UC's strategic vision of enhancing its students' learning experiences by delivering world-class online courses, where education is accessible, flexible and future-focused.

Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) you will lead the implementation of the University's Online Education strategy, through new technologies for learning, as well as promote and implement teaching development for student success.


In this role, you will be expected to lead by example, having an excellent personal academic profile based on the innovative use of digital technologies in teaching and learning and/or research.


Mōu | Who You Are
To lead this exciting new enterprise, you will have significant senior academic and leadership experience within a tertiary institution, ideally at Professor level, and have:

  • knowledge of local, national and international trends in digital developments in teaching and learning and/or research, in the area of digital futures
- experience in developing major research projects and a track record of success in obtaining external research grants
- sound knowledge and understanding of leadership strategies and management practice applicable to a senior management role
- proven experience in strategic planning, managing financial resources and project planning and management
- experience with research funding opportunities in the tertiary education sector in New Zealand, would be an advantage
- a collaborative work style, to be able to provide an effective programme to assist the University to meet its obligations under the Treaty of Waitangi.
