- to the Deputy Chief Executive Delivery
- Join the Te Amorangi Mātauranga Matua, the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) Delivery Directorate Leadership whānau as part of the Delivery Directorate Leadership Team.
- Take a pro-active role in identify emerging issues that may require support or intervention and lead the provision of advice where issues need to be escalated to senior leadership.
- Provide input into or lead other key initiatives across the Directorate, including sector wide initiatives
- Use your well-honed written and communication skills to distil complex concepts and information into easy to read and understand documents

Our Deputy Chief Executive, Delivery is seeking a Principal Advisor, Kaitohutohu Mātāmua, to join the Delivery Leadership Team.

**Ratonga**: Delivery Directorate
This role is part of the Delivery Directorate which is the customer-facing unit of the organisation and is responsible for the implementation/delivery of all (investment and careers) TEC products and services, relationship management, Māori/ iwi partnership, negotiation, performance management and monitoring.

**He angitūtanga**: About the Role
As Principal Advisor you will provide operational and strategic support to the Deputy Chief Executive Delivery and the Delivery Directorate in areas such as:

- Preparation of papers for the TEC's Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the TEC Board, and the Minister of Education and provide some co-ordination activities on behalf of the DCE Delivery
- Work across teams to proactively understand key issues which may need escalation of advice to TEC's Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the TEC Board, and the Minister of Education
- Develop and implement plans for work area as requested including allocation of work, measuring, and monitoring the achievement of objectives and their compliance with standards, and taking appropriate action where the achievement of objectives is threatened.
- Support the Deputy Chief Executive, to coordinate work as it impacts business planning and risk management for the Directorate
- Provide high level, researched, operational advice
- Manage complex programmes of work

We are looking for a person with a mix of skills and experience:

- Strong writing skills, and the ability to distil complex concepts and information into easy to read and understand documents
- An ability to operate at a high level under pressure
- Experience at advising at a senior level working in complex organisations and/or multiple stakeholders.
- Proven knowledge of governance approaches and/ or the machinery of government.
- Excellent negotiation, persuasion and influencing skills
- Ability to be effective in a team situation and provide leadership for project-based teams
- Numeric, analytical, and statistical skills, including the ability to deal with financial data

The salary range for this position starts from $121k to $142k depending on demonstrable skills and experience.
