We are looking for a Principal Advisor to join our Office of the Deputy Director General within the System Performance & Monitoring Directorate. We ensure that the Deputy Director General's workflow and responsibilities are proactively managed and ensure the timely coordination and delivery of our work programme and key deliverables.
In this role you will provide strategic business support to the Directorate to help ensure the quality and consistency of advice, services, and practices. Core responsibilities include leading the Directorates government accountability reporting and monitoring activities, and provision of high-quality advice to support decision makers. Your business understanding and system perspective will aid you in working collaboratively with the manager and other staff, to contribute to the leadership and operations of the team and Directorate.

Ko ngā pukenga ōu - What You'll Bring
- Significant experience managing process that underpin the operations of the public sector environment, including Cabinet and parliamentary processes, appropriation and budget, and development of accountability products.
- Well-developed analytical skills with the ability to write well and provide robust advice and recommendations.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining an environment focussed on continuous improvement to enhance Directorate performance.
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written particularly business writing and reporting.
- Proven ability to identify and manage risk, alerting management to potential problems/risks well in advance and proposing solutions effectively and consistently.
- Knowledge and experience of governance and frameworks/models for planning and reporting.
