Principal Advisor - Māori Land Court**
Te whiwhinga mahi/The Opportunity
- Do you want to play a lead role in supporting a court service for owners of Māori land, their whānau and their hapū, which promotes the retention and use of Māori land; and facilitates the occupation, development and use of that land?
- Do you enjoy working collaboratively to develop and provide specialist advice to senior leaders?
- Do you enjoy planning, leading and delivering projects and initiatives to improve performance and process?
- Do you enjoy mentoring, guiding and coaching colleagues?
This is an exciting role within the Te Tiratū team, which works to provide direction and support to the national operation of the Māori Land Court.
In this role you will:
- Help identify what needs to be done to support the operation of the court and do what it takes to make that happen
- Use your relationship skills to bring strategies, workstreams and people together
- Help identify smart ways to communicate so that the right people understand the progress, risks and opportunities
- Provide high quality advice, in collaboration with colleagues, on all areas of the business.

The Principal Advisor is responsible for leading work that contributes to transformation, often with other advisors and analysts that they coach and mentor.
We are looking for people with:
- A good general knowledge of, and respect for, tikanga Māori and competence in, or a willingness to become competent in, Te Reo Māori
- A deep commitment to and evidence of putting the Treaty of Waitangi at the centre of decisionmaking and knowledge of Crown-Māori relationships
- Experience leading complex projects to successful completion
- Ability to mentor and develop less experienced colleagues
- Experience communicating with a wide range of senior audiences on complex issues
- Experience supporting senior leaders
- Ability to see and convey the big picture while knowing how to achieve long term change
- Strong writing abilities

Salary Range:
The appointing salary for this role will be between $103,540 and $146,174 based on skills and experience.
