The Principal Advisor, Executive and Government Relations, provides quality strategic and operational advice, improving systems and processes that enable Stats NZ to meet relevant standards in terms of accuracy, quality, and timeliness for ministerial and executive servicing.

The role will largely focus on the machinery of government, parliamentary processes, and accountability mechanisms, including the management of Stats NZ's responses to select committees and relevant cross-agency deliverables.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Executive and Government Relations and working closely with the General Manager, the Principal Advisors will be responsible for leading and delivering work and assisting with the growth in capability and expertise of the wider External and Government Relations group.

You are comfortable leading and delivering discrete pieces of work, sometimes with limited direction or ambiguity, utilising your outstanding written and oral communication skills and your ability to manage in a busy and complex environment.
