This is a wonderful opportunity to join the Wellington CAMHS Service in a joint Education & Health role at City School - Central Regional Health School.

This school caters for students from the Wellington and Hutt regions.

This role is a 0.9fte (36hours) 7-8 month fixed term position based at the Central Regional Health School - City School in Kent Terrace, Wellington.

Ideally staff work fulltime in term time and take annual leave in school holidays.

The aim of CRHS-City is to support college students who have a mental health condition, to transition back to their regular school, further education or employment.

CRHS-City provides an integrated programme to enable learners to access both education and mental health services as part of a multi-disciplinary process.

All students have a CAMHS Team attached to them and we co work together to enable positive progression for a students - education

This role is a wonderful opportunity to belong to two services and have the support in your work from both.

You would be working as a Wellington CAMHS employee where you have access to the wider multi-disciplinary team, but based in City Central Regional Health school facilities where you would be one of two mental health clinicians providing services alongside teaching staff.

Both teams are passionate and enthusiastic with a commitment to providing excellent services in assessment and intervention with young people alongside their whanau/family with moderate to severe mental health concerns.

We are keen to be innovative and the Wellington CAMHS provide collaboration and support. You will also get to work alongside all of the local CAMHS services, as this is a regional school.

Moū - About you

This role is a rare and exciting opportunity for an Occupational therapist, MH Nurse, or Social worker with 2 years postgraduate experience who have an interest, skills and expertise in working with adolescents and their families, bi-cultural and multi-cultural work practices, multi-disciplinary team working, and community liaison.

The ideal applicant will have experience in the child and adolescent mental health sector and a proven ability of working with a multi-disciplinary team.

Previous experience of working with Central Regional Health School would be an advantage.

You will hold a relevant professional qualification and be registered with the appropriate professional registration body, and have an up-to-date annual practicing certificate.

The mental health professional, in partnership with CRHS will provide the following services to support students and their families attending CRHS:

  • Share information and work collaboratively with the team at CRHS-City to support students to return to school.
  • Provide mental health assessment and therapeutic interventions including both individual planning and facilitating therapeutic group programmes.
  • Support the family and wider systems to enable student wellness and successful transition to school or education.
  • Clinical consultation, training, and support for CRHS staff.
  • Contribute to morning handover, weekly review meetings, admission meetings and staff meetings.
  • Maintain contact with students MHS case managers and wider teams.
