Recognising the high volume of messaging directed towards the media, advertising and marketing community and that mixed messages can create clutter and confusion; the Kaupapa of the Trade Marketing team is to break down, cut through and consistently promote the power and effectiveness of Television & BVOD to the industry and key decision makers.


The opportunity - Te tūranga


The Trade Marketing Manager - Commercial, will lead the day-to-day delivery of credible, relevant communications, and compelling insights to advertisers and marketers; recognised as effective industry resources, thought leadership and the 'go to' for facts.

The key outcome will be revenue maximisation for TVNZ in the highly competitive media landscape, with the goal of creating current and future demand for the Commercial team.


Here's a look into the role:

  • Promote, educate, and inform the industry on the value and effectiveness of TV & video, the value of TVNZ and innovative, relevant advertising opportunities to help their brands grow.
  • Manage the relationship between the Data and Insights team and the Commercial team.
  • Gather and disseminate industry information about commercial television & BVOD, which will positively influence agencies and advertisers in media planning and buying.
  • Manage trade communications relating to television & BVOD advertising including the TVNZ Sales website.
  • Work with the Trade team to deliver of an 'Always on' calendar of comms to market
  • Develop & deliver a clear 'go to market' plan for regularly communicating the value of our content platforms to our customers
  • Develop meaningful communication material promoting the key messages from TVNZ trade marketing strategy for the TVNZ Sales team to take to market.
  • Support the development of the Trade Marketing Coordinator role provide inspiration, support, great leadership, and development opportunities.
  • Work with the GM Trade Marketing to develop and implement the TVNZ Trade Marketing Strategy.

Job Specific Skills

  • Analytical skills, able to brief and decipher relevant campaign performance data and draw insights to inform trade marketing sales campaigns.
  • Confident using various CMS platforms.
  • Proficient in industry tools, TV Map, Google Analytics, and other relevant Nielsen products.
  • Solid understanding of various research methodologies and able to identify which methodology is relevant to deliver commercial outcomes,
  • Excellent writing skills, from crafting presentations to writing EDM and Comms, structured brief writing.
  • Able to coach and develop team members.
  • Qualification in Media & Communication or Research & Insights.
Experience and Knowledge

  • Minimum 5 years' experience within the media industry
  • Insights, data, research driven. Be able to
  • Broad understanding of media operations and sales.
  • Knowledge of Digital products, terminology, and USPs within a media environment and a desire to learn more and more.
