How you'll make an impact


The GM - Group Reporting is responsible for ensuring that Xero's accounting records and reporting is produced to the highest standard and communicated internally and externally succinctly and with meaningful insight to enable better decisions, allowing Xero to achieve its strategic objectives.

This will be achieved with strong communication and relationships across finance and the business, as well as ensuring Xero's reporting tools and systems are fit for purpose now and for the future.


What you'll do:

  • Oversee the development of Xero's financial reporting to respond to changes to the Group and the environment in ensuring Xero is not only compliant, but seen as market leading
  • Own the production of financial performance reporting to the Xero Board and XLT, working in partnership with FP&A and other areas to provide high quality clear and insightful information
  • Integrate nonfinancial and financial reporting within Xero's corporate reporting suite to drive Integrated Thinking and decision making, working with the Sustainability team and wider Xero business to achieve this
  • Develop the financial reporting systems to meet Xeros constantly changing requirements by driving improvement and strategic roadmaps, for example integrating M&A targets, integrating nonfinancial reporting, or providing better insight into new revenue streams
  • Lead the strategic improvements into Xeros revenue analysis and reporting, working with the data and automation teams to produce best in class data and analysis to support business decisions and achieve strategic objectives
  • Ownership of the month end close process from end to end, while embedding efficiencies and improvements
  • Oversee the preparation of Management Commentaries as well as Integrated Reporting included in Xero's Annual and interim reports, ensuring they are accurate and provide meaningful insight for investors and analysts into group performance and the execution of Xero's strategy
  • Ensure that documents produced conform to the high standards of accuracy and writing quality expected for this high profile market communication and is produced within the tight timeframes
  • Oversee the operations of the internal verification team to ensure all significant external disclosures are accurate and framed in a way that it not misleading to external stakeholders
  • Provide advice on the technical and financial implications and consequences of business decisions
  • Manage and develop a team of finance leaders (and their teams) to drive continuous improvement
  • Participate in significant corporate or companywide finance projects and initiatives as directed by the CFO and EGM Financial Control

What you'll bring with you - Experience:

  • At least 15 years' of relevant experience in a Big 4 CA environment, as well as proven experience in a corporate environment at a senior level, specific experience with software companies desirable
  • Proven experience in coaching and developing teams
  • 5+ years experience in a finance leadership roles
  • CA qualified or equivalent
