An exciting new opportunity has arisen to provide top-notch communications, social media advice and support in a part-time role to Shanan Halbert, MP in their Northcote electorate office.

This position offers real variety and plays a vital part behind-the-scenes in the parliamentary process.

As the Parliamentary Communications and Social Media Advisor to Shanan Halbert you will have the ability to communicate complex issues in everyday language via a range of media and communication channels.

You will often be called on to provide robust communications advice directly to the MP and will be tasked with the development and implementation of a fit-for-purpose communications plan.

This role is a varied and multifaceted one where you will be developing targeted content across a variety of social media channels to engage the local community, maintaining networks both inside and outside Parliament for your MP, managing communications materials such as press releases and radio interview content, and representing your MP in the community.

You will have demonstrated experience in managing social media channels, be across technological trends, be full of new ideas and have well-developed and refined communication skills.

Your friends and whanau describe you as technologically savvy and happy to work autonomously within your electorate office and are well known for your proactive, driven and resilient nature.

As an employee of Parliamentary Service you will be impartial in your role. Awareness of the political landscape may be beneficial in supporting your MP.

You will receive a Parliamentary Service induction which will set you up to succeed within this environment, as well as ongoing learning and development opportunities.

This role is for 40 hours per week. Some flexibility in hours may be required. This is an events-based role linked to the MP.
The appointing salary band for this role is $64,954 to $81,193 per annum. Appointments will be based on your skills and experience.
