We're looking for an experienced and energetic Social Media and Content Advisor We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment to join the Parliamentary Engagement team.

This role will provide expert social media advice, help tell Parliament's story through engaging content, and support the development of social media strategies and projects for the parliamentary agencies.

Te tĪma - The team

The Parliamentary Engagement - Whakapāpātanga Pāremata team consists of employees of both the Office of the Clerk and the Parliamentary Service.

The team is responsible for developing and implementing Parliament's engagement strategy with a key objective of making Parliament more accessible so that each year more citizens will engage with Parliament and their MPs.

Mō te tūnga - About the role

Establish and maintain effective social media communication channels for Parliament and its committees and provide advice and support for implementing the Parliament Engagement Strategy.


Ngā haepapa - Responsibilities:

  • Looking after our Social Media channels for the Parliamentary Service and the Office of the Clerk of the House of Representatives including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X
  • Working with the wider Parliamentary Engagement team to drive our digital content
  • Implementing our existing Social Media and engagement strategies, and developing plans to support significant projects
  • Both organic and paid Social Media including video content creation where possible
  • Supporting the Social Media needs of the Parliamentary Service and the Office of the Clerk of the House of Representatives
  • Proactive thinking for engaging with New Zealand through Social Media and digital channels
  • Developing content for a variety of our engagement channels (including our website)

Your ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively within the parliamentary environment will be key to your success in this role, as will your flexibility, critical thinking skills and creativity.

The starting salary range for this role is $79,517 per annum.

Appointments will be based on skills and experience (please note, the full salary range extends beyond this to allow for tenure progression).
