Do you have background in Climate Change, Environment or Resource Management

  • Are you seeking a unique and challenging career like no other?
  • Play a vital behindthescenes part in New Zealand's democracy

As the Parliamentary Communications, Research and Policy Advisor to Hon Scott Simpson MP for Coromandel, you'll put your high-quality research skills, policy knowledge and administration skills into action in this unique and rewarding environment.

The MP holds the portfolios for Climate Change and Environment and wants someone who has relevant experience to join his team.

This role is a varied and multifaceted one, where on any given day your responsibilities may include the following:

  • Organising press briefings and preparing press releases and content for articles
  • Managing your MPs communications policy and identify opportunities across different media channels
  • Preparing briefing notes for your MP for Select Committees and the House on sitting weeks
As an employee of Parliamentary Service you will be impartial in your role. Awareness of the political landscape may be beneficial in supporting your MP.

To ensure our people feel supported and enabled to grow and develop their career, you will receive a Parliamentary Service induction to set you up to succeed within this environment.

There will also be learning and development opportunities available to you.

This is an events based, fixed-term role linked to the MP, working 40 hours per week and working in Parliament.

Some flexibility in hours may be required.
The appointing salary band for this role is $64,954 to $81,193 per annum. Appointments will be based on your skills and experience.
Applications close at midnight on Sunday, 15 January 2023.
The Parliamentary Service appoints on merit and is committed to the EEO and good employer principles.
