Our Internal Audit team provides independent assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls to the Suncorp Group Board Audit Committee (BAC), Board Audit & Risk Committee (BARC), subsidiary Board committees, Group Executives, external auditors and regulatory bodies.

Due to a recent internal move the Audit Portfolio Manager role has become available, this is an exciting and key leadership opportunity based out of our Auckland office responsible for the delivery of the SNZ portfolio of audits.

You will support the Executive Audit Manager and the Group Internal Audit Leadership team in:

  • Designing a risk based annual audit plan that is appropriate to the size, nature and complexity of Suncorp's New Zealand businesses.
  • Delivering quality and valued internal audits that provide assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of the control environment and insights across the primary portfolio of Suncorp New Zealand, including AA Insurance. Additionally, from time to time, this role may also be responsible for delivering some Suncorp Groupwide audits and audits in other functions such as the Insurance functions in Australia and Corporate functions.
  • Leading and developing our people, fostering a cohesive and collaborative team environment.
  • Developing and managing a best practice assurance service.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Financial Services, Internal Auditing and/or External Audit
  • Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of accounting, auditing and/or risk management and the requirements of the Standards for the Professional Practice of the Institute of Internal Auditors
  • Extensive uptodate business knowledge of the insurance sector, including a deep understanding of the key risks facing the sector
  • Demonstrated communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to interpret detailed risk/control findings within a business context
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience of Board Committee level reporting
  • Degree or qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Business


 Relevant professional qualification
  • Chartered Accountant, CIA or equivalent
