Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

The Senior Adviser - Pacific is responsible for the design and development of curriculum, teaching and learning initiatives across the early learning to senior secondary pathway for Pacific learners.

Senior Advisers undertake detailed design and provide advice on the development of effective and workable practices and products to implement new curriculum initiatives for Pacific learners.

They work collaboratively with others on change initiatives, and support improvement by focusing on what is and isn't working to tailor and customise approaches to meet needs.

This role will have a focus on designing and developing tools and supports for Pacific learners, particularly those with Samoa, Tonga, Tokelau, Niue and the Cook Islands heritage.

Supporting Pacific Bilingual and Immersion Education is a key priority, so the ability to speak one or more of these Pacific languages is an advantage.

  • Convey abstract and/or complex ideas in clear, practical and concrete terms, tailored for the audience.
  • Demonstrate welldeveloped problem solving and analytical skills, with an ability to work cooperatively with others to solve problems or complete tasks.
  • Demonstrate great relationship management skills.

Mātau rōpū ake | About our ministry, group, and team

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

To better deliver on this, we are currently undergoing an organisational design change. The transition phase to improve the way we deliver our purpose will be complete in 2023.
