Mō te tūnga | About the role

The purpose of this role is to provide advice and support to Oranga Tamariki managers, frontline staff and contracted partners who are working with tamariki and rangatahi (up to the age of 25) with disabilities.

These may range from intellectual and physical disabilities to mental health problems and behavioural issues.

You will provide independent analysis, review and advice around disability issues as it relates to Oranga Tamariki assurance practices, and the continuous improvement and development of the annual quality assurance cycle.

Based in Māori, Partnerships and Community, the function of the Quality Assurance team is to improve the quality of care for tamariki and rangitahi in care, their caregivers, and whānau, care partners, hāpu and iwi across Aotearoa.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A tertiary level qualification within a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong strategic and systemthinking skills with active experience of strategic planning processes
  • Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to engage, collaborate and influence at a senior level
  • Experience in the public sector including working across agencies
  • Experience and knowledge of Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi and ability to incorporate into your work
  • High work standards and attention to detail
  • Highly effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • An ability to thrive when dealing with complexity and ambiguity
  • A collegial attitude and desire to work with others to achieve results and a willingness to share your knowledge and skills to support the growth of the team
  • Expertise on how the disability sector works, including local arrangements, including for those tamariki and rangatahi with the most complex and challenging needs
  • Demonstrated experience in a complex, highly confidential and sensitive environment
  • Established disability sector networks in the region with good working relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to work in collaborative peer and other stakeholder relationships
