About the team - Health NZ
The Procurement, Supply Chain & Health Technology Management (PSC&HTM) team at Health New Zealand are a national function with a vast and complex scope. They play a critical role in ensuring the availability, safety, and efficiency of clinical and non-clinical goods and services across the health system. Responsible for managing and influencing over $9 billion in annual spend, the team are central to delivering high-quality patient outcomes and standardising product usage across regions.
About the Role
Within this newly established role, as the Regional Commercial Manager, you will lead the development and execution of regional commercial strategies that support commercial activities within your region. You'll be responsible for managing a significant spend portfolio, ensuring that procurement and contracting activities deliver optimal value, quality, and innovation across the region.
Working with Strategic Category Managers within the Commercial Directorate, you will ensure these strategies meet your region's needs supporting the health system through delivering those national category strategies into the local and regional environment.
You will work closely with national and regional stakeholders to align commercial activities with Health NZ's broader strategic goals. Your work will directly contribute to improving patient outcomes, enhancing supplier performance, and embedding sustainable and equitable practices across the health system. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence commercial excellence at scale, while fostering long-term partnerships and driving continuous improvement.
About you
You are a commercially astute leader with a strong background in procurement, contracting, and category management. You bring a strategic mindset and a collaborative approach, with the ability to navigate complex environments and deliver impactful results. Your experience in procurement and supplier negotiations equips you to manage high-value contracts and drive innovation across the supply chain.

You will bring:
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
- 5+ years of experience in category management or strategic sourcing.
- Proven success in contract negotiation and supplier relationship management.
- Strong financial and market analysis capabilities.
- A collaborative and inclusive leadership style
