New Zealand Waikato Regional Council Full time

We are seeking a suitably experienced and motivated individual for the position of _Local Civil Defence Emergency Management Officer based in Tokoroa _. You will work as part of the local council team and be responsible for getting South Waikato District Council and its communities ready to respond to and recover from emergencies. As well as working with the Council you will be involved with community organisations, government departments, utility providers, emergency services and other partners to help increase their resilience to local and regional hazards.**Mō te tūranga | About the role**
- You will report the Partnerships Team leader at the Group Emergency Management Office and will work closely with staff at South Waikato District Council. _
- You will be required to: _
- Influence and work with the other parts of Council as we work towards “holistic” emergency management
- Ensure the Council is ready and staff are trained to respond to emergency events
- Plan for and prepare for the foreseeable events that can impact the communities of the South Waikato District
- Support planning and preparation for recovery from emergencies
- Educate and help community organisations to make themselves ready and able to cope with emergencies

- You can: _
- Communicate with all sorts of people from a wide range of organisations
- Successfully delivering multiple projects concurrently. You are a planner and are well organised.
- Comfortably deliver training and run workshops and hui
- Write plans and procedures
- Comfortably work alongside Māori, Pasifika, new migrant and other sectors represented in the communities

**Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience**
- Tertiary degree or equivalent experience in emergency management or similar role
- A minimum of 5 years relevant experience
- CIMS 2 & CIMS 4 (or equivalent)
- Full NZ Drivers Licence
