Te Houtaewa Māori Charitable Trust (THMCT) is a kaupapa Māori Charitable organisation delivering Health, education, and Cultural Tourism initiatives across Aotearoa and globally. We are seeking a skilled and purpose-driven professional to lead global media partnerships and cultural licensing initiatives — a pivotal role in positioning THMCT as a leader in Indigenous-led innovation and development.
This position is essential to expanding our global partnerships and licensing frameworks that protect, promote, and uplift Māori and Indigenous knowledge systems. The Global Partnerships & Cultural Licensing Lead will guide international collaboration, manage cross-cultural communications, and ensure the Trust's intellectual and cultural property is represented with integrity across global platforms.
This expertise is critical as THMCT scales its international footprint and strengthens relationships with global Indigenous, philanthropic, and media networks. The role requires a senior professional with proven experience in international public relations, cultural diplomacy, and Indigenous engagement.
About the Role
As the Global Partnerships & Cultural Licensing Lead, you will:
Develop and manage strategic partnerships across public, private, and Indigenous sectors in Aotearoa and globally.
Oversee cultural licensing, brand guardianship, and intellectual property frameworks aligned with kaupapa Māori values.
Drive campaigns and communication strategies that strengthen THMCT's global presence and impact.
Collaborate with executive and international partners to uphold integrity, reciprocity, and innovation in all agreements.
What You'll Bring
Minimum 5 years' experience in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, and publishing and digital media experience.
Strong background in partnership management, brand strategy, or cultural communications.
Proven ability to lead projects with cultural integrity and cross-sector collaboration.
Excellent writing, digital storytelling, and stakeholder engagement skills.
A commitment to kaupapa Māori, Indigenous advancement, and ethical leadership.

Additional Details
This is a permanent, full-time position based in the Northland Region (Te Tai Tokerau), with flexibility for hybrid work where appropriate. The role operates primarily Monday to Friday under standard full-time conditions; however, occasional weekend work may be required depending on project and event commitments. Employment is direct with Te Houtaewa Māori Charitable Trust under New Zealand employment law, with an annual salary range of $72,800 to $86,580, depending on experience and qualifications.
