Play a pivotal role in shaping the University of Waikato's future-ready digital landscape. As our Principal Digital Infrastructure Architect, you will lead the design, delivery, and evolution of secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure that underpins the University's strategic goals.
You'll provide expert technical leadership across major projects, ensuring solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, and compliance standards. With a focus on innovation, performance, and long-term sustainability, you'll champion the University's digital infrastructure vision; balancing reliability, security, cost, and emerging technologies.

Salary will be based on the knowledge, skills and experience brought to this role. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week), based on our Hillcrest Campus.

You're an experienced digital infrastructure leader with deep expertise across cloud, networking, security, and hybrid environments. With at least 10 years' hands-on experience, you bring strong analytical thinking, calm technical leadership, and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. You're confident influencing across the organisation, communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences, and keeping architectural integrity at the forefront.
You thrive in complex environments, balancing innovation with reliability, and you're comfortable working independently or collaboratively to deliver high-quality outcomes. Committed to continuous improvement, user-centred service, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, you bring professionalism, integrity, and a drive to shape future-ready infrastructure for the University.

Information Technology Services (ITS) is responsible for the coordination of information and communications technology (ICT) planning for the University, the delivery of robust, reliable core ICT infrastructure and enterprise systems, and the provision of professional ICT consultancy and customer focused support services.
