About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Advisor to help shape emergency management planning across Health New Zealand. You'll turn national goals into clear, practical plans that support readiness and response at all levels. Working with internal teams and government partners, you'll ensure our plans are consistent, coordinated, and aligned with national standards. This role will strengthen national preparedness through the development, integration, and continuous improvement of emergency management plans.

About the Team

This role sits within the Health, Wellbeing, Safety & Organisational Resilience team in the People & Culture team You'll be part of a national network of emergency management professionals, working closely with district leads and regional teams to strengthen our emergency preparedness and response capabilities.

About you

You're experienced in emergency management planning with a track record of leading complex planning processes across large organisations. You're confident working with diverse stakeholders and translating national strategies into practical, consistent plans that support readiness and response.

You will have:

  • Significant experience developing and evaluating emergency management plans, frameworks, and strategies

  • Proven ability to lead planning across multiple stakeholders in complex environments

  • A demonstrated understanding of emergency management frameworks e.g. CIMS

  • Experience applying planning methodologies such as scenario planning, contingency planning, and risk-based planning
