We're looking for a Direct Marketing Specialist to lead the development and delivery of engaging fundraising campaigns that connect with donors and drive long-term support.

About the Role

As a key member of our Individual Giving team, you'll lead the development of multi-channel campaigns that connect emotionally with donors. Using data-driven insights, you'll craft on-brand communications that strengthen relationships and grow long-term support in alignment with our mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Individual Giving Manager, you'll be responsible for:

  • Leading end-to-end direct marketing campaigns across multiple channels.
  • Creating impactful content including appeal letters, newsletters, EDMs, and website copy.
  • Managing donor segmentation, retention strategies, and campaign budgets.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers to meet deadlines and KPIs.
  • Analysing campaign performance and implementing improvements.
  • Supporting national appeals and mid/major donor programmes.

This role spans both the Auckland Northland and Waikato/Bay of Plenty divisions under a shared services agreement.

What You'll Bring

  • Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in direct marketing, ideally in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Strong copywriting and storytelling skills.
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge and digital marketing tools (preferred).
  • Excellent relationship management and communication skills.
  • A commitment to the values and mission of the Cancer Society.
  • Non-smoker (as per organisational policy).
