Know about farming and/or a bit about vineyards? Organised and great at planning and communicating? Practical and able to get stuff sorted? We're on the hunt for all around good bugger to be our Farm/Vineyard Operations Coordinator, helping us run our farm and vineyard on 110acres just off Gordons Road, Whakanewha, Waiheke.

Working with our Vineyard Manager and Farm Caretaker you'll be responsible for making sure everything is running smoothly and efficiently, hiring, training and managing contractors as well as getting stuck in and working on the land and doing any of the practical jobs required.

This is a hands-on operational role, you need to be fit and capable to be out on the tools and doing a wide variety of jobs:

  • Schedule and manage the farm and vineyard calendar, what needs to happen when etc, do a weekly plan for everyone.

  • Making sure everyone is on task and has the right tools and skills for the jobs and is progressing work effectively and efficiently to a high standard.

  • Hire, train and supervise casual contractors, particularly in the vineyard for harvest.

  • Practical, ready to try fix anything and happy to get stuck in and do farm labour work.

  • Farming: working with a small number of sheep and cattle, 2 donkeys and 2 alpacas.

  • Be comfortable using power tools and machinery.

  • Make sure all farm vehicles and equipment are serviced and working.

  • Tractor driving for vineyard spraying, trimming, mulching etc. Training provided, but must know tractor basics. Grow safe certification a bonus.

  • Mowing, weedeating, pruning, gardening work (weeding, pruning, trimming trees, spraying pest plants, light landscaping, water blasting, irrigation and water pipe repairs etc)

  • Procuring farm supplies and getting quotes/negotiating to ensure we get good prices and operate as efficiently and prudently as possible.

  • Project management, organising trades/labourers to get various farm projects off the ground and delivered on time, with quality outcomes and on budget.

  • Fence building/maintenance, pool maintenance, manage irrigation system, manage water bore and supply system, manage electric fence system, manage automated gates, fix anything and everything small as required.
