A little bit about the role…

As the Head of Finance at Kathmandu you will be responsible leading a small, high-performing team, this role requires someone who is keen to roll up their sleeves and dive into the details but can also step back and think commercially. The Head of Finance leads Kathmandu's Brand Finance team and manages the accounting finance function day-to-day and will work closely with the CFO and FP&A manager on a daily basis to improve business performance, enhance decision making and drive value. This role ensures the delivery of timely, accurate financial results, including statutory reporting, management reporting, and tax compliance, while maintaining strong internal controls to mitigate financial risk. This role will be a key partner to the FP&A function to ensure consistency and alignment of actual and forecasted results.

Key Responsibilities...

Accountability: Leadership

  • Lead and develop a high‑performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships across the Brand and Group, positioning finance as a trusted, strategic partner.

Accountability: Financial Reporting – Statutory & Management

  • Oversee accurate, timely statutory and management reporting, ensuring compliance with group policies and international standards.
  • Drive strong financial controls, working capital management, and cash conversion in partnership with Shared Services and Treasury.

Accountability: Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Lead the Brand's strategic planning process to deliver long‑term value and support key initiatives across profitability, margin, cost, and growth.
  • Oversee open‑to‑buy (OTB) analysis and reporting in collaboration with Planning and Merchandising.

Accountability: Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)

  • Ensure accurate, timely budgets, forecasts, and rolling projections while identifying opportunities to strengthen financial performance.
  • Enhance reporting dashboards to deliver actionable insights on key retail metrics and support decision‑making across the Brand.

Accountability: Risk Management

  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with policies to minimise financial risk.
  • Partner with Risk & Compliance on emerging risks and risk appetite.

Accountability: Project Delivery

  • Lead finance‑related projects with cross‑functional teams to support operational improvement and strategic execution.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the KMD Brands Next Level strategy in partnership with Decision Intelligence and PMO teams.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements…

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce (Accounting).
  • Fully qualified CA or CPA with 10+ years' experience.
  • Big 4 audit background (preferred).
  • Demonstrated team management experience.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and strong business acumen.
  • Knowledge of internal control environments and policy development.
  • Experience with Microsoft D365 (advantageous).
  • Retail and/or listed company experience highly regarded.
