About the role

Vertex Security Solutions, a leading provider of innovative security solutions in the Tauranga and wider Bay of Plenty region, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Security Technician to join our dynamic team. In this full-time role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the seamless installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our state-of-the-art security systems, as well as installing and maintaining a range of mechanical devices and locksmithing work, helping to keep our clients safe and secure.

What you'll be doing

The Security Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting alarm systems and other security devices, as well as installing and maintaining a range of mechanical devices and locksmith work.

  • Installing, programming, and configuring a wide range of security equipment, including CCTV systems, access control, intruder alarms and locking hardware
  • Providing prompt and efficient maintenance and repair services to address any issues with security systems and locking hardware
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical problems to ensure the continuous operation of security systems and locking hardware
  • Conducting site assessments and designing tailored security solutions for clients
  • Liaising with clients to understand their security needs and provide expert advice and guidance
  • Maintaining thorough documentation and records of all work carried out
  • Adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations and procedures

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience as a Security Technician or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of security systems and their installation
  • Technical expertise in the installation, programming, and maintenance of CCTV, access control, and intruder alarm systems
  • Expertise and experience in locksmithing, keying and door hardware installation
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to quickly identify and resolve technical issues
  • Strong communication skills to effectively and professionally liaise with clients and provide exceptional customer service
  • A keen eye for detail and the ability to work accurately and efficiently
  • A valid driver's licence and the ability to travel to client sites as required
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in security systems or a related field would be highly advantageous e.g. Inner Range, Gallagher, ICT Protégé, etc.
